Generative AI Policy

A. For Authors

At Bookarion Journal of Social Sciences (BJSS), we recognize the growing role of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in academic writing. At the same time, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity, transparency, and author responsibility.

This policy applies only to the use of generative AI and AI-assisted tools in the writing process of manuscripts. It does not apply to the use of AI tools for data analysis, statistical procedures, coding, or drawing research insights.

Declaration of Generative AI Use

Authors must clearly disclose any use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in the writing of their manuscript at the time of submission. This disclosure will be published as part of the article.

Authors should add a separate section before the References titled:

Declaration of Generative AI and AI-assisted Technologies in the Writing Process

The declaration should follow this format:

“During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL / SERVICE] for [SPECIFIC PURPOSE, e.g., language editing, improving clarity, or readability]. After using this tool, the author(s) reviewed, edited, and verified the content and take full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the published work.”

Important Notes

  • The use of basic tools for spell checking, grammar correction, or reference management does not require disclosure.

  • If no generative AI or AI-assisted tools were used in the writing process, no declaration is required.

  • Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors and do not meet authorship criteria.

  • Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, ethical compliance, and accuracy of their manuscripts.

BJSS encourages authors to remain informed about international publishing standards. For further guidance, authors may consult Bookarion and Bookarion Scholar’s policies on the use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies.

B. For Reviewers and Editors

To protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and the intellectual property rights of authors, BJSS does not permit reviewers or editors to use generative AI or AI-assisted technologies (including but not limited to ChatGPT or similar tools) during the peer review or editorial evaluation process.

BJSS continuously monitors developments in ethical AI use and may update this policy if compliant and secure tools become available in the future.
